33 days until we welcome our Irving Dragons back to school!
Best,
Mr. Grossman
Dear Irving Families,
I am honored to introduce myself as the next Principal of Irving School. I come to Highland Park having served as an elementary classroom teacher, director of a residential camp, and most recently as the District Elementary Instructional Facilitator for the Summit Public Schools. Throughout my career, one thing has remained constant: my passion for building joyful school communities where every child feels known, challenged, and supported.
From my very first conversations, I felt something special about Irving School and this community. I experienced a culture that is nurturing, joyful, and deeply committed to children. I knew this was a place where I wanted to invest my heart and my leadership.
Becoming Principal of Irving is a responsibility I do not take lightly. It is a privilege to lead a school entrusted with the education and care of our youngest learners.
While I know it will take time to learn the traditions and unique strengths of the Highland Park community, there are three promises I can make:
1. I will work to ensure that every student, staff member, and family feels seen, valued, and that they truly belong at Irving.
2. Every decision I make will be grounded in one guiding question: Is this in the best interest of our students?
3. We will never stop growing. Education is constantly evolving, and while we will honor what makes Irving special, we will also embrace thoughtful, intentional growth that helps every child and every educator reach their fullest potential.
My official start date is August 31st. Below, you will find some opportunities to meet with more details to follow:
Kindergarten and 1st Grade: Popsicles with the Principal on August 31st from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
Pre-K: Welcome to the Dragon’s Den on September 2nd from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
I hope that you and your family have a rejuvenating remainder of the summer. While I will certainly be soaking up the sun (and getting married), I am counting down the days until I welcome the students, staff, and families to the 26-27 school year.
Educationally yours,
Mr. Justin Grossman
Principal, Irving School
